THE EXCEPTIONAL CHILDREN AT RAWINALA

Exceptional Children

These are photos of children who stay at Rawinala. Seventy six children stay there. Two children are multiple handicapped (mentally retarded, blind, dumb and deaf). Two children are blind, dumb and deaf and others children are blind.

Rawinala has no institution to support their ministry since 1973. Their fund is only from people who come to visit these children and give donation but until now all the children needs always provided. It is God’s Works. They need a bigger place to build class room and bedroom for the children. They only have seven bedrooms for all the children now. We can open their website at www.rawinala.or.id.

One day when I was eating lunch with these children, I asked one kid named Suwot (He is blind and has no parents). “Sowot, is the food nice…?”

He replied me, “Of Course these foods nice sister, because these are from God and what we could eat to day is the best blessing from God. We have to thankful for that.”

Other kid named Iwan talked to me. “Sister, I wish so much I can see. I can make the differences between night and day, dark and bright. I want to see pretty girls.” than he was laugh. I said, “Well, do you know that we also can see some thing not only thru our eyes? We can see thru our heart. Some time what we could see thru our eyes is not righteousness’. He Replied me. “Yes, you are right beloved sister. But when we are listening to radio, we only need our ears to enjoy the programs, getting information and we believe it. And when we are watching football competition at television, we need to see thru our eyes to enjoy that game. My life is also like that some time, sister”. I talked in my heart, “Yes dear, you are right.” I think he is very smart. He doesn’t get proper education but he can give me a great illustration.

A cheerful girl named Indri (she is dumb and deaf) after finished lunch, pulled t-shirt of my niece and spoke. We didn’t understand what she means because she used her hands (sign language). We thought she like my niece’s t-shirt. We asked to a staff who work there what did she means. She told us that Indri have eaten her big lunch she full now. But she doesn’t want to be fat like my niece and can’t work hard. It was funny and my niece watches her diet now.

When I was take rest in the children bedroom, I lay down to sleep on bed. I saw around room and the children face. I was start thinking, “Why God created these children (retarded children and disable children). Why God is not creating all human perfect?

I remember one thing. Long time ago the students asked their teacher, “Teacher, whose sin caused him to be born blind? Was it his own or his parents sins?

He answered, “His blindness has nothing to do with his sins or his parent’s sins. He is blind so that God’s power might be seen at work in him”.

I didn’t understand these words in the past but I understand now. Since I involved my self with these children, I feel rejoice and have a great life. I wish I can more help them every day. Every time I share about these children with my friend, I feel happy. I never felt happy like this in the past. This is God Word mean. God’s power might be seen at work in my life thru these children. I also believe for people who work at Rawinala, have heart serving the children is God’s Works.

Now I realized these children are special children from God. They are chosen by God to be seen God’s Works in their life. I believe God’s power might be seen at work into your life thru these children also. Because WHEN WE GIVE TO POOR, IT’S LIKE LENDING TO LORD AND LORD WILL PAY YOU BACK.
