The Influencing factors of the Work Environment and Career Development on employee Work Performance


The employee work performance is the important factor by which a company achieves its goals and competes with other companies. There are several factors which influences employee work performance are the work environment and career development. If the work environment is good and a company invest in career development programs, the employee’s motivation and efforts increases and finally their performance increase. An uncomfortable physical environmental causes employees to feel tired and bored, resulting in numerous excuses to leave the office. Neither is the relationship between employee and manager (supervisor) good. Most employee are not clear about their job description, responsibilities and job specification.
This case is been done in order to find out how the work environment and career development influence employee development and specifically isolate and analyze which factor are influence work performance.

The research focuses on description of work place culture, factors which influence the work place culture and thus employee productivity, description of career development and the importance of career development for the employee, the usefulness of providing a good career development program and understanding of company value of employee achievement.

This research takes a descriptive approach, using case study supported by survey method, the total number of population is 283 and sample size is 162. The analyze used multiple linier regression model. To test the hypothesis used F test for the whole and t test is used for the partial of the research with significant level 95% and alpha = 5%.

The result of this research shows that both work environment and career development have positive and high significant effect on employee work performance. Partial test also shows that work environment has positive and significant influence on work performance and career development has positive influence on work performance.

Thus the coefficient determination (Adjusted R Square) account 22,2%. It’s mean that 22,2% independent variable (work environment, career development) explained by dependent variable (work performance) and 77,8% is explained by other variables which were not researched.
